Moroccan AI Expert Wins Global Women in Tech Award

The 1st prize in the "Global AI Inclusion Award" category was awarded to the Moroccan Hajar Mousannif, an AI expert professor at the Cadi Ayyad University (UCA) in Marrakech. This distinction, which is part of the prestigious "Women Tech" award, rewards women who shine internationally in the field of high technology.
The announcement of the voting results took place recently, during a virtual ceremony, reports the MAP, specifying that Ms. Hajar Mousannif was competing with 6 other candidates from several countries. The happy recipient, who has already received numerous international awards, such as the L’Oréal-Unesco prize and the Emeraude Litterati excellence prize, received congratulations from the Deputy Minister in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research, proud of the quality work carried out by the researcher, distinguished in recent years, on AI, as well as on several projects that have had a global echo.
"It is a great joy and great pride for Morocco, my country, for the Moroccan and Arab woman and for the Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech," said M. Driss Ouaouicha to the MAP, who stressed that, through this distinction, Morocco proves to the world that it has great skills in the field of AI, which deserve great interest and great support.
The Women Tech network, based in Mountain View in the State of California (at the heart of Silicon Valley), promotes gender diversity in technology. With over 100,000 members in 181 countries, the network connects talent with leading companies and startups that value diversity.
This global women’s award, created two years ago by Ayumi Moore Aoki, rewards exceptional girls and women who are carriers of innovation in the field of high technology. It aims in particular to contribute to reducing the gap between women and men in the field of technology.
