Morocco to Announce Ramadan Start Date Tonight After Lunar Observation

While the majority of Muslim countries officially begin Ramadan this Thursday, March 23, 2023, Moroccans will have to wait until tonight for the decision of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs.
"The observation of the crescent moon announcing the beginning of the month of Ramadan will take place on Wednesday, 29 Sha’aban 1444 of the Hegira, corresponding to March 22, 2023," the statement said.
The lunar observation will take place on Friday, 29 Sha’aban 1444 corresponding to March 22, 2023. In this regard, the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs calls on judges, Nadhirs and delegates of the ministry to inform the department of the observation of the crescent moon or its non-observation by contacting the following telephone numbers: (0537.76.11.45), (0537.76.09.32), (0537.76.05.49) and (0537.76.89.54) or the fax number (0537.76.17.21), it is further specified.
