Islamic Month of Sha’ban Begins February 22, Ramadan Approaches

The first day of the month of Chaâbane of the year 1444 of the Hegira corresponds to Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs announced yesterday in a statement.
"The ministry informs all citizens that it has observed the crescent moon of the month of Chaâbane, this Monday 29 Rajab of the year 1444 of the Hegira, corresponding to February 20, 2023, after sunset," the statement said.
All the ministry’s delegates in the Kingdom and the Associated Royal Armed Forces Units have confirmed the non-observation of the crescent moon. This means that the month of Rajab will have had 30 days and the 1st of Chaâbane will correspond to Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
Less than 30 days separate Moroccans from the month of Ramadan. This year, Ramadan should begin on March 21 or 22 in Morocco.
