Morocco Marks Eid Al Fitr on April 22 Following Moon Sighting

Morocco celebrates Eid Al Fitr this Saturday, April 22, according to an announcement made by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The ministry confirmed the date after carefully observing the crescent moon, as required by religious tradition.
This observation, according to the ministry, was carried out after the Al Maghrib prayer, Thursday, 29 Ramadan 1444 of the Hegira, corresponding to April 20, 2023. Following this observation, the ministry confirmed that the beginning of the month of Shawwal 1444 H, that is to say the day of Eid Al Fitr, will be Saturday, April 22, 2023.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs had previously called on judges, nadhirs and ministry delegates to inform the department of the observation of the crescent moon or its non-observation after sunset on Thursday.
