Morocco and Israel Strengthen Diplomatic Ties in Ireland Meeting

A meeting brought together the Moroccan Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, Lahcen Mahraoui, and his Israeli counterpart Ophir Kariv to strengthen the ties between the kingdom and Israel. It comes more than two months after the normalization of relations between the two countries.
Several points were discussed during this meeting, including the rich history of the Jewish community in Morocco, the many similarities between Israelis and Moroccans, and the new impetus given to strengthening cooperation in the region. The two diplomats expressed the wish that this cooperation will promote peace in the region.
During this meeting, the Israeli ambassador received from his Moroccan counterpart the book "Rehabilitation of Jewish cemeteries in Morocco: the houses of life".
The Republic of Ireland plans to open an embassy in the Kingdom this year. This decision aims to expand and deepen the European country’s presence abroad, especially in Morocco where it has two honorary consulates in Casablanca and Agadir.
