Israel Seeks Moroccan Nurses Amid Growing Bilateral Cooperation

To facilitate the professional integration of Moroccan paramedical staff in Israel, the Israeli Minister of the Interior, Aryeh Dery, and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelouafi Laftit, have decided to set up a joint inter-ministerial commission.

Two months after the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel, several working groups have been created to strengthen bilateral cooperation. During a telephone interview, the Israeli Minister of the Interior stressed the need for Moroccan manpower in the paramedical sector.

For this purpose, a roadmap will have to be developed and implemented by a joint commission, in order to facilitate the departure of potential candidates. "The working group will also examine the modalities for visa exemption," added the minister, who did not fail to mention his Moroccan origins.

For a month, Israeli officials have been exchanging with their Moroccan counterparts on a possible visit by King Mohammed VI to Israel. According to a local newspaper, "negotiations are ongoing," although the Moroccan Sovereign has expressed reservations on the subject, conditioning his visit to the resumption of negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.
