Israel Seeks Swift Restoration of Full Diplomatic Ties with Morocco, Says Top Envoy

Arrived in Rabat at the beginning of last week, the head of the Israel office has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to "expanding its bilateral ties with Moroccans." Tel Aviv wants to restore its diplomatic relations with Morocco as soon as possible, the Israeli diplomat said.
Relations between the two countries should "reach their diplomatic peak - based on years of contacts, visits and common history," said chargé d’affaires David Govrin in a statement to The Times of Israel. For the Israeli diplomat, the potential of Morocco "is enormous".
Last December, the two countries had agreed to immediately reopen the liaison offices, while striving to "resume official bilateral ties and diplomatic relations as soon as possible." While Israel wants to quickly restore its diplomatic relations, the Moroccan government advocates a gradual process, the special envoy of Israel to the kingdom recalled.
