Israel Appoints Former Egypt Ambassador to Lead Liaison Office in Morocco

The name of the ambassador who will head the Israeli liaison office in Rabat is now known. His name: David Govrin.
According to Israeli media, David Govrin, former Israeli ambassador to Egypt, has been appointed to head the Israeli liaison office in Rabat. He is expected to travel to Morocco in the coming weeks for the opening of this office, reports Jerusalem Post, citing diplomatic sources.
Under the presidency of King Mohammed VI, a tripartite declaration Morocco-USA-Israel was signed in Rabat on December 22, 2020. According to this declaration, the opening of liaison offices in the two countries is planned, as well as the gradual resumption of diplomatic relations between the kingdom and the Hebrew state.
A technical team from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs had also visited Israel on December 27, 2020 to explore and restore the premises of the Moroccan liaison office in Tel Aviv.
