Morocco Advances Plans for Marrakech-Agadir High-Speed Rail Line

Local authorities are laying the groundwork for the construction of the Marrakech-Agadir High-Speed Line (LGV).
The governors of the provinces and prefectures located in the areas crossed by the future railways of the Kénitra-Casablanca-Marrakech-Agadir LGV have instructed the administrative services to finalize the expropriation procedures for public utility. They will have to carefully examine the lists of beneficiaries of the compensation. This concerns the land including plantations, crops, and any buildings, which have been the subject of administrative expropriation decisions.
For the success of the operation, it is planned to organize meetings to assess the prices of the land affected by the expropriation, in order to avoid any form of manipulation or injustice. This operation marks a very important step in the realization of this ambitious infrastructure project, which aims to connect several major cities in Morocco by a high-speed line, but also to respond to potential contestations of the owners by taking into account their observations and ensuring an accurate assessment of the parcels concerned.
The expropriation operations have been underway for several months in accordance with Decree No. 2.20.71 on, in particular, the expropriation for public utility of agricultural land in the sixth district of Agadir.
