Morocco Advances Plans for Major Marrakech-Fez Highway Project

Pending the completion of the financial arrangement, engineers, technical study offices, ministry officials and the Minister of Equipment have discussed the route of the Marrakech-Fez highway in order to materialize it as soon as possible.
The Marrakech-Fez highway project is taking shape. In this regard, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water to take stock of the project.
The stakeholders gathered around this project shared their observations on the technical studies carried out as part of the construction of the new highway section connecting the cities of Marrakech-El Kelaâ Sraghna-Béni Mellal-Khénifra-Fès/Meknes hub. They are based on multiple criteria in view of the different route scenarios proposed.
One of the first criteria unanimously retained is the one related to territorial development. According to the newspaper Aujourd’hui le Maroc, the objective is to ensure a connection with several cities through the realization of this project, which should extend over nearly 400 Km for an estimated amount of 20 billion DH.
