Morocco Invests 40 Billion Dirhams Annually in Transport Infrastructure Expansion

Morocco plans to invest 40 billion dirhams per year to support the transport sector. It is a question of strengthening the development of infrastructure.
Strengthening public investments with a fair regional distribution, the integration of the informal sector, the consecration of the principles of good governance and support for SMEs. This is the objective underlying the annual investment of 40 billion dirhams in the transport sector. According to the Minister of Equipment, Transport and Logistics, Abdelkader Amara, the government’s measures are in line with the continuity of the major equipment projects aimed at supporting the transport sector.
Specifically, it is a question of completing the Tiznit-Laâyoune-Dakhla express road mega-project for an investment of more than 10 billion dirhams and ensuring the road connection of the Nador West Med port for 1.3 billion dirhams, in addition to the Guercif-Nador highway for 4.5 billion dirhams, details L’Économiste. Not to mention the tripling of highway sections at the Casablanca-Settat region level, with an investment exceeding 5 billion dirhams.
"We are completing a study on the project relating to the Marrakech-El Kelâa des Sraghna-Béni Mellal-Khenifra highway, at a cost of around 12 billion dirhams," the minister said.
