Morocco Advances to Africa Cup Round of 16, Potential Opponents Emerge

Awaiting their third group match against Gabon this Tuesday, Morocco has already secured a place in the round of 16 of the CAN taking place since January 9 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. If the Atlas Lions manage to snatch a third victory, they will take the lead in Group C.
This is Morocco’s third qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16, after Gabon (2017) and Egypt (2019). Morocco currently leads Group C with 6 points, followed by Gabon (4 points), Ghana (1 point) and the Comoros at the bottom with zero points.
For the rest of the events, the Moroccan players must prepare to face in the round of 16 the best teams ranked 3rd in groups A, B or F, after the end of the group stage. Thus, if Morocco succeeds in its match against Gabon, it could face Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, (Group A), Malawi if it emerges from Group B, or another selection from Group F, namely Mali, Tunisia or Gambia.
In case of defeat on Tuesday against Gabon, Morocco will face as second in Group C, the second in Group B. This will be Burkina Faso or Cape Verde.
