Morocco Aims to Secure Top Spot in AFCON Group Against Gabon

If winning the first two matches was necessary for Morocco, snatching a victory against Gabon is even more so. Speaking to the press on Monday, Vahid Halilhodzic indicated that the Atlas Lions must in no way underestimate this match given its importance for the team’s morale and for the rest of the competition.
The Atlas Lions will face the Gabon Panthers this Tuesday, January 18, as part of the 3rd day of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations. A clash of titans for which Vahid Halilhodzic plans to change his starting lineup. "We will make a few changes, but the objective remains the same: victory," the coach affirmed.
"We came here to finish first in the group," the coach stressed, before adding that he "intends to take his revenge" on Gabon, the only team that has beaten him (2-3) since he is at the head of the Moroccan national team, during a friendly match in Tangier in October 2019.
