Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi Among Finalists for CAF Young Player of the Year Award

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is on the list of 4 players shortlisted by CAF to defend the title of Young African Player of the Year.
On the list unveiled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), four other young players are vying for this title. They are the Senegalese Kribin Diata, the Malian Moussa Djenbo and the two Nigerians, Samuel Chikwizi and Victor Osmin, CAF said. The winner will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Egypt.
As for the title of African Player of the Year, in addition to the Togolese Kodjo Laba, four Arab footballers are in the running, namely the Tunisians Anis El Badri and Taha Yassine El Khanissi, the Egyptian Tarek Hamed and the Algerian Youssef Belaili.
Jamal Belmadi of Algeria, Aliou Cissé of Senegal and Nicolas Dupuy of Madagascar are shortlisted for the title of Coach of the Year, the list of finalists includes 3 national team coaches. To the list of coaches is added that of 2 club coaches. They are Mouine Chaabani of Espérance de Tunis and Christian Gross, former Swiss coach of Zamalek.
Algeria, Tunisia, Madagascar, Nigeria and Senegal are competing for the title of best men’s national team. As for the best women’s national team, it opposes Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia.
The two Cameroonians Agara Nshot and Gabriele Ungweny, the Nigerian Assisat Oshwala, the Malawian Tabitha Shawenga and the South African Thembi Kgatlana are in the running for the title of African Women’s Player of the Year.
