Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) lived through hell between Algeciras and Ceuta

The images shared on social media testify to the violence of the impact. Upon arrival at the port of Ceuta, a scene of desolation awaited the travelers: several dozen cars belonging to Moroccans residing abroad were heavily damaged in the ship’s holds. Dented bodywork and broken windows show the force of the shocks experienced during the journey.

On board, the situation was just as harrowing for the passengers. Videos show scenes of chaos in the dining area, where chairs were thrown across the room, propelled by the ship’s pitching. Although no serious injuries are to be deplored, fear gripped all the travelers in the face of the violence of the elements.

While southern Spain and northern Morocco are being swept by a storm and several other connections have been preventively canceled by the port authorities, the authorization for this ferry to depart raises questions.
