Ferries to Morocco suspended in Tarifa, Algeciras affected

It’s back to square one for travelers, particularly Moroccans residing abroad (MREs). The Baleària and Africa Morocco Link companies have announced the immediate suspension of all their rotations between Tarifa and Tangier-Ville. The gusts sweeping the area make navigation too perilous for the fast ferries.

The situation is less critical, but remains unstable at the port of Algeciras. While the connection to Ceuta is operating normally for the moment, the connections to Tanger Med are experiencing disruptions. Delays have been recorded on the morning departures, forcing passengers to be patient on the quays.

These new cancellations come just as traffic had just resumed on Monday. The weekend had already been marked by a near-total paralysis of departures on Sunday morning, under the effect of Storm Emilia which has been raging on the Andalusian coast for several days.

Uncertainty hangs over the rest of the day. The port authorities are monitoring the evolution of the wind to decide on a possible resumption, but for now, the Tarifa-Tangier link remains cut off.
