MRE, warning, many boats cancelled in southern Spain
The bad weather currently hitting the Andalusian coast is seriously disrupting crossings in the Strait of Gibraltar. While the ports of Malaga and Almería are spared, Tarifa can no longer provide its links to Morocco, and the situation is deteriorating in Algeciras.
It is a black day for travelers departing from Tarifa (Cádiz). The port authority has confirmed the cancellation of almost all connections to Tangier City due to the bad weather. Out of the ten ferries scheduled between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. by the companies Baleària and Africa Morocco Link, only one ship was able to weigh anchor this morning at 9 a.m.
The situation is also tense at the neighboring port of Algeciras. Towards Tanger Med, the morning rotations have been canceled, and uncertainty remained for the five departures scheduled by Armas-Trasmediterránea and Iberia in the afternoon. The connection with Ceuta is not spared: nine crossings have already been canceled, mainly affecting the timetables of Baleària and FRS, particularly in the middle of the day and evening.
While some ships were able to sail at dawn or remain maintained for 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., several Armas-Trasmediterránea slots remained pending confirmation. Elsewhere on the coast, the ports of Malaga and Almería are spared from disruptions and are operating normally.
