Moroccans Protest Trump’s Middle East Plan at US Consulate in Casablanca
On January 30, in front of the US diplomatic representation in Casablanca, pro-Palestinian Moroccans demonstrated against what they call the "deal of the century". This is a plan made public by US President Donald Trump two days earlier as a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The anger of pro-Palestinian Moroccans against the "shameful deal", throughout the evening of January 30 in Casablanca on the boulevard, echoed in the ears of US diplomatic representatives whom they describe as "enemies of humanity", notes TelQuel.
Indeed, the plan called the "deal of the century", presented by US President Donald Trump on January 28, advocates a two-state solution that fully favors the Israeli regime. This distresses the Moroccan protesters.
In reality, this "shameful deal" is at the root of the split observed at the level of the international community, placed between indignation and approval. Morocco, having chosen its camp for a long time, in favor of Palestine, has this time appreciated the "constructive peace efforts" undertaken by the American side. A position rejected by pro-Palestinian activists.
"The first message is addressed to the Moroccan state," says Mustapha Brahma, a member of the organizing committee, secretary general of Annahj Dimocrati, leaning against the police barricade. "It is unprecedented for a Foreign Minister to explode, in such a despicable way as that of Nasser Bourita, to highlight the American position," says this militant of the radical left for whom the position of Moroccan diplomacy is a "stab in the back" of the Palestinian defense.
This demonstration, organized by a group of associations in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, was attended by several other groups and associations favorable to the Palestinian cause, including the Local Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Moroccan League for Advocacy for the Affairs of the Nation, the Moroccan Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, to name a few.
