Morocco Denies Reports of Secret Deal with Israel on Western Sahara

Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was called upon to react, on Tuesday, February 4, to the alleged "secret deal" between Morocco and Israel, which would imply that Tel Aviv would support Morocco’s sovereignty in the Sahara, in exchange for Rabat’s support for Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Middle East.
Nasser Bourita’s reaction came in response to the oral question addressed to him by Abdelilah Halouti, Secretary General of the National Union of Labor in Morocco, also a PJD advisor, during the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Councillors, devoted to the legislative framework on the delimitation of the maritime space of the Kingdom.
"What credit can be given to the theses that appeared on the American information site, Axios, which are the most credible, and which put forward the idea of a definitive American support, which would be in the making, for the Moroccanness of the Sahara, in exchange for a normalization of relations with Israel?"
To this question, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, without ruling out this option, explained that the Moroccan tradition in diplomacy prohibits any response to information from a media that is not of an official nature, reports Le360. According to the same source, Nasser Bourita stressed that Morocco’s position on the Palestinian issue remains constant.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy also stated that the highest Palestinian authorities have approved the kingdom’s reaction to Donald Trump’s "deal of the century".
