Morocco Welcomes Trump’s Middle East Peace Plan, Breaking with Arab Consensus

The position of Morocco, regarding the "deal of the century" proposed by US President Donald Trump to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has been welcomed by many Israeli media.
Most Israeli newspapers have described Morocco’s position as "positive", before noting that this position came in a context marked by the total rejection of the "deal of the century" by other Arab countries.
According to the Times of Israel newspaper, the kingdom is a strategic ally of the United States who appreciates the "deal of the century" of US President Donald Trump for the Middle East. As for the Israel National News newspaper, it did not hesitate to publish in full the press release from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
For these Israeli media, Morocco’s official position differs from that of other Arab countries who have literally rejected the agreement because of its balanced nature. According to these media, these countries believe that the agreement favors the Israelis rather than the Palestinians.
In a press release, Morocco had pleaded for the preservation of the status of Jerusalem. Its Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, stated that the kingdom, whose King Mohammed VI chairs the Al-Quds Committee, reiterates the position contained in the "Al-Quds Appeal" of March 30, 2019, signed by King Amir Al Mouminine and Pope Francis. This appeal proposes that "the access of the faithful of the three monotheistic religions be respected and that the right of worship for each believer be an inalienable right".
