Moroccan Parties Slam Trump’s Middle East Peace Plan as ’Biased’ and ’Illegal’

While Morocco has not yet taken a position on the deal of the century, presented by US President Donald Trump on Monday, January 27, some political parties, including the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) and the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), express their opposition.
In a press release, the PPS described the "deal of the century" proposed by the US president as a "conspiracy". The party led by Nabil Benabdallah takes a dim view of Donald Trump’s proposals, which are only the expression of a "bias in favor of the occupation forces", and a "haughty vision, carried by the forces of imperialism, in contradiction with the principles of international law". In short, the PPS denounces a hegemonic approach aimed at consecrating an unjust state of affairs. "This file cannot be resolved through conspiracies, which will only strengthen the determination of the Palestinian people in their struggle to preserve their territory," the leaders of this party insist.
For its part, the PJD adopts the same position. Its first deputy secretary general, Slimane El Amrani, in a Facebook post, "reaffirmed the position of the PJD, supporting the Palestinian cause and rejecting all plans aimed at distorting the legal and historical status of the city of Al Quds". For the party, the deal of the century is in opposition to international legality. Especially since "it is a violation of the rights of the Palestinian people". "Attempts to legalize settlement policies, or other initiatives in this direction, are rejected at the institutional and popular level, whether at the national or international level," insists the party.
In addition, the two parties call for a mobilization of the international community against the "deal of the century", with a view to preserving the rights of the Palestinians.
