Moroccan YouTuber Released on Bail After Airport Arrest for Cosmetics Controversy

Arrested at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca on Monday, upon her return to Morocco from the United Arab Emirates, then placed in detention, the youtuber Fatima Zahra Oulahyane, known as "Sophia Taytmaters" has been released on bail. She will appear before the investigating judge at the end of May.

Fatima Zahra Oulahyane is free to move. On Wednesday evening, she was released on a bail of 20,000 dirhams, pending her appearance before the investigating judge on May 28. This release follows the Youtuber’s rejection of the accusations against her. She claimed that one of her employees had affixed the authorization visa on her products without her knowledge.

Cited in a case related to the promotion of suspicious cosmetic products claiming to have the ability to increase certain parts of the female body, "Sophia Taytmaters" was arrested last Monday by elements of the National Security as she had just returned to Morocco after a trip to the United Arab Emirates. After her arrest, she was transferred to the police station of the Inezgane district for the continuation of the investigation opened on a batch of these products seized in one of the establishments belonging to the accused during a police raid.

During this operation, a young woman working in the store was arrested, as well as a young man suspected of being Sophia’s main supplier of raw materials used in the composition of her products. The preliminary investigation revealed that these products did not meet the requirements and health safety conditions in force.
