IKEA Morocco Employees Arrested in Major Theft Investigation

Thefts involving several products were committed at the IKEA store in Aïn Harrouda, on the outskirts of Casablanca. An investigation has been opened, and initial evidence suggests the involvement of store employees.
According to sources close to the case cited by Rue20, staff members of the Swedish company, specializing in the manufacture and sale of home furniture, are among those involved in these thefts. It was the management of what constitutes the largest IKEA subsidiary in Morocco that alerted the Royal Gendarmerie.
Following this report, the gendarmes went to the scene. Their interventions led to the arrest of seven suspects, who were placed in custody. Stolen items were seized by law enforcement. The investigation is particularly seeking to determine the methods used to remove the stolen products from the store premises.
The Royal Gendarmerie elements of Aïn Harrouda are currently continuing their investigations, under the direction of the competent prosecutor’s office. The main objective is to formally identify all potential perpetrators and accomplices in this case.
