Moroccan Workers Lead Foreign Social Security Enrollments in Spain

At the end of February 2021, the number of Moroccans affiliated with social security in Spain is 264,304, according to the Spanish Ministry of Integration, Social Security and Migration.
Moroccans remain at the top of the ranking of extra-EU foreign workers contributing to the Spanish social security system. They are followed by the Chinese (97,064), according to data published on Thursday by the Spanish Ministry of Integration.
In total, 2,053,997 foreigners are affiliated with the Spanish social security in February, up 0.4% from January 2021, or 9,328 more active people. There are 1,309,920 people who are from non-EU countries and 744,077 who are from EU countries.
As for the number of Moroccans legally established in Spain, it was estimated at 771,683 people as of July 1, 2020, up 1.4% compared to January 1 of the same year, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Despite the coronavirus pandemic and its vicissitudes, Moroccans have maintained their position as the largest foreign community legally settled in Spain.
