Moroccan Workers Top Foreign Contributors to Spanish Social Security System

At the end of last March in Spain, more than 267,571 Moroccans were registered with the social security system. A figure that makes Morocco the first country whose nationals actively participate in the social security of the Iberian country.
The first place in the ranking of extra-community foreign workers affiliated with the Spanish social security goes to Morocco, according to data from the Spanish Ministry of Integration, Social Security and Migration. China is in second place (98,329), out of a total of 2,072,259 foreigners registered at the end of March. This figure is up 0.9% compared to February 2021, or 18,262 more active people.
Currently, 1,319,511 people from non-EU countries and 752,748 nationals from European Union countries are present in Spain, the ministry said. Taking stock of foreigners in the country, the Permanent Observatory of Immigration, under the Ministry of Integration, Social Security and Migration, estimates the number of foreigners in Spain at 5,800,468, including 811,530 Moroccans, at the end of December 2020. Of this number, women represent 44% of the Moroccan community legally settled in Spain. The average age of Moroccan immigrants in Spain is less than 33 years.
