Moroccan Woman Livestreams Suicide After Years of Abuse; Brother-in-Law Faces Multiple Charges

Victim of several rapes perpetrated by her brother-in-law, a young woman, originally from the city of Nador, in northern Morocco, decided to end her life by filming her suicide live on WhatsApp. The latter is being prosecuted for adultery, human trafficking, rape and failure to assist a person in danger.
The story goes back to the time when, still a minor, the victim was raped by her brother-in-law while visiting her sister, reports the daily Assabah. Taking advantage of her silence, the aggressor continued to abuse her until the day they were discovered by the wife.
After reaching the age of majority, the sister-in-law, disgusted by her brother-in-law’s depraved morals, decided to end her life. She first called him before telling him of her intention, asking him to launch the "live" on Whatsapp while she swallowed the poison. The daily adds that the brother-in-law’s pleas and promises failed to convince her to give up her decision.
The conclusions of the Royal Gendarmerie’s preliminary investigation had pointed to the possibility of a suicide. But after consulting the victim’s phone, the investigation took a new turn, leading to the arrest of her brother-in-law.
