Moroccan Universities Absent from Global Top 1,000 Shanghai Ranking

Morocco is not featured in the Shanghai ranking of the 1,000 best universities in the world. For the 2019 edition, no university in the Kingdom is included in the ranking of this benchmark ranking.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), a Chinese company from Jiao-Tong University, has revealed the results of the new Ranking of this traditional ranking of the 1,000 best universities in the world, indicates leconomiste.com. Unfortunately, no Moroccan university is on this (short) list. Meanwhile, Tunisia (1), Egypt (1), Nigeria (1) and South Africa (8) manage to stand out from the crowd by positioning some universities.

As usual, the Ranking remains dominated by American and Anglo-Saxon universities. Harvard retains its leadership ahead of Stanford and Cambridge (UK). The top 10 is completed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of California (Berkeley), Princeton, Oxford, Columbia, the California Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago.

As for the Arab world and the Middle East, they also stand out thanks to the Saudi universities (4), the Turkish ones (12), the Omani Sultan Qaboos University, the American University of Beirut and Khalifa University (United Arab Emirates).

Iran also places 13 universities in this vintage, indicates the same source.

The competent authorities are called upon to offer the best conditions to local universities so that they can be appreciated internationally.
