Moroccan Traveler Arrested at Tunis Airport with €1.5 Million in Undeclared Cash

Customs elements operating at Tunis-Carthage airport seized this week nearly 1.5 million euros from a Moroccan. The latter was immediately arrested.
The scanner in the boarding area at Tunis-Carthage airport (DTTA) allowed the border police elements to discover that the Moroccan national was in possession of a large undeclared sum of money. These police officers called their customs colleagues who are authorized to search luggage and verify the truthfulness of the declarations made by travelers.
"Do you have anything to declare?", they asked the Moroccan passenger. The latter served a rather unconvincing answer. The customs officers then searched his luggage and found a sum of 1,490,000 euros. This discovery led to the arrest of the Moroccan and the seizure of this sum of money.
