Moroccan National from France Arrested at Tangier Port with Undeclared €75,000

A Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) was arrested on Saturday by customs elements operating at the Tanger Med port. He had in his possession a large sum of money in dirhams and foreign currency, which he was trying to smuggle into Moroccan territory.
In total, 75,240 euros and 13,800 dirhams not declared to the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII) were seized from the MRE during a routine check at Tanger Med. This large sum was carefully hidden in the personal luggage of this Moroccan residing in France, reports the MAP.
Before being handed over to the judicial police, he was questioned by the customs services about his motivations and the reasons why he intended to return to Morocco with such a sum without notifying the competent authorities.
