Moroccan Expat Caught Smuggling €52,000 at Tangier Port

On Monday evening, the customs elements operating at the Tanger Med port seized more than 52,000 euros from a Moroccan residing abroad. He wanted to introduce this sum into the national territory without declaration.
This sum was found during a routine passenger control operation. This is how the MRE residing in Germany was subjected to a thorough inspection, which made it possible to seize 52,400 euros, equivalent to 550,000 dirhams. He was trying to bring this large sum into the national territory without having the authorization established by the competent financial institutions, reports the MAP.
According to the same source, the MRE had hidden the 52,000 euros in a bag in his vehicle. The whole was handed over to the judicial police, on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
