Moroccan Expat Caught Smuggling 46,000 Euros, Luxury Goods at Tanger Med Port

A Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) was arrested on Wednesday by customs officers at the Tanger Med port. He was trying to bring an undeclared large sum of money, luxury clothing and contraband pharmaceutical products into the national territory.
In total, 46,000 euros undeclared to financial institutions and a large quantity of contraband clothing and pharmaceutical products were seized from the MRE.
The catch was rather fruitful for the customs administration, as during a second operation, an attempt to illegally import 462 boxes of dental spare parts and 528 units of medical bandages, with an estimated value of 385,000 dirhams, was thwarted by the customs officers.
Unlike the first, the Moroccan who was trying to introduce these products into the national territory claimed to have no knowledge of the legal provisions relating to the transport and import of this type of goods.
