Moroccan Tourists Opt for Apartment Rentals Over Hotels Amid Summer Travel Surge

This summer, Moroccan tourists have chosen private apartments rather than hotels deemed too expensive despite the offers put in place as part of the "Welcome Back" offer.

The results of a survey conducted by Avito show that "the flow recorded in July reaches a record over the last two years, i.e. 632,000 visits recorded on the site in the sixth month of the year", thus confirming that Moroccans have not lost their vacation habits.

Thus, there is a surge of tourists towards the seaside cities which have welcomed a very large number of summer visitors. This rush was manifested by the rental of houses in popular destinations for visitors, including the Northern region, Agadir, Marrakech and Essaouira, it is specified.

Regarding the rates, the survey reveals that they vary between 400 and 700 DH per night, for a beachfront apartment, with two bedrooms and a living room, while for villas, it takes 1,200 to 2,000 DH.

Similarly, "more than 59% of the people surveyed choose to spend their holidays in a rental apartment while 39% opt for hotels and 18% prefer to stay with family to minimize the risks of virus contamination.

Among the preferred destinations, Marrakech takes the lead in the ranking with 13% of the searches carried out. It is followed by Casablanca (12%) and Rabat (8%). The ochre city also concentrates the vacation rental offer with 30% of the total offers listed on the platform, followed by Essaouira (12%) and Casablanca (9%).
