Moroccan Taekwondo Champion Finds New Life in Spain After Perilous Sea Crossing

In despair, Anouar Boukharsa, Moroccan Taekwondo champion, had taken the road of immigration aboard a makeshift boat. Two months later, he is participating in the Spanish championship.
Life seems to be smiling on Anouar Boukharsa, 27 years old, again. This famous Taekwondo champion in Morocco had joined Spain aboard a makeshift boat last October, leaving his medals behind.
In a video widely circulated on social media, the athlete threw one of his medals into the sea before expressing his feelings. "This medal has no value," he said.
Now settled in Spain, Anouar Boukharsa is employed in a sports hall. Subsequently, he will be promoted to Taekwondo coach for young children. The native of Safi dreams of a better sports future.
He will already participate in the next few days in the Spanish Taekwondo championship. Confiding to Le360, Anouar Boukharsa expressed his happiness to live this new adventure.
