Former Moroccan Taekwondo Champion Alleges Federation Sabotaged Career After Spain Move

Former taekwondo champion Anouar Boukharsa accuses the officials of the Moroccan federation of wanting to sabotage his professional career. They would have expressly asked the Spanish federation not to give any chance to the athlete who has been living in Spain for a few weeks.
The story of this athlete who left Morocco aboard a makeshift boat last October continues to amaze. What could have pushed a former champion like Anouar Boukharsa to abandon his native Morocco for Spain like an illegal immigrant?
According to Le360, he found a job as a youth coach in a taekwondo club in Granada and will soon participate in the Spanish championship.
But the fairy tale did not last. On his Facebook account, he indicated on Sunday that members of the Moroccan Taekwondo Federation would try to prevent him from competing in this championship. They would have called some officials of the Spanish federation, warning them that the former champion is illegally in the country and therefore cannot compete in official competitions.
"I inform them that I am in a legal situation and that contrary to the rumors I have not chosen to represent Spain. I play as a Moroccan under the colors of my new club," he concludes.
