Moroccan Star’s Brace Stuns Benzema’s Al Ittihad in Saudi League Upset

The Al Ittihad team, led by Karim Benzema, suffered a heavy defeat, losing 1-3 to Al Raed and the brace of a Moroccan.
After returning from the Club World Cup, the team hoped to return to winning ways, but this defeat, marked by the exploits of Moroccan Karim El Berkaoui, has pushed Al Ittihad further away from the top of the standings. The situation became complicated as early as the 12th minute, with the expulsion of Madallah Al Olayan, putting Al Ittihad in numerical inferiority. Despite an equalizer by Romarinho, the team’s efforts proved insufficient against a determined opponent and a rampant Moroccan.
The match turned in favor of Al Raed in the second half, with El Berkaoui shining again and Mohammed Al Dossary sealing the victory late in the game. Gallardo’s decision to replace the little influential Benzema with Saleh Al Amri did not reverse the course of events. This defeat marks an uncertain period for Al Ittihad, which has only won one of its last four matches, slipping to sixth place in the standings.
Meanwhile, other teams are also struggling for position in the championship. Al Raed, thanks to its victory, moves away from the relegation zone, while Álvaro Medrán’s Al Taawon suffers a defeat against Al Fateh, with Saad Al Sharfa in the spotlight.
