Moroccan Striker Assaulted After Saudi Super Cup Final, Declines to Press Charges

Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah and the Saudi supporter who assaulted him after Al Ittihad’s defeat against Al Hilal in the final of the Saudi Super Cup both went to the police.
The match, which took place at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, ended in a humiliating 4-1 defeat for Hamdallah and his Al Ittihad teammates against Al Hilal. According to Ariyadhiah Ajel, the two parties have renounced filing a complaint by appearing before the United Arab Emirates police.
The incident broke out after the match, as the Al Hilal players were celebrating their victory. Hamdallah is said to have engaged in a verbal altercation with a frustrated Saudi supporter, which then escalated into physical violence, with the supporter whipping the player. Videos of the confrontation are circulating on social media, showing the angry supporter hitting Hamdallah after the player sprayed him with water, apparently in response to verbal insults.
The altercation quickly escalated into a physical fight, requiring the intervention of players from both teams, security personnel and other spectators to prevent the situation from escalating further.
