Moroccan Singer Karima Gouit’s Trial for Insulting Officer Delayed Again

The trial of Moroccan singer and actress Karima Gouit, who is being prosecuted on bail for insulting a police officer, continues before the Court of First Instance in Marrakech.
Karima Gouit’s trial has been postponed again. On Thursday, the Court of First Instance in Marrakech decided to postpone it to July 18, in order to summon the witness, reports Kech24. The singer had appeared before the public prosecutor’s office on April 18. Since April 19, she has been prosecuted on bail (5,000 dirhams) for insulting a police officer.
Suspected of having insulted a police officer, Gouit had been arrested on April 18 at Marrakech’s Menara international airport after a stay in London. But she does not admit the facts she is accused of. Contacted by the same media, the singer had denied her arrest, claiming that she had spent the Eid holidays with her family. She also stated that the rumors about a dispute with a policeman at the airport were false.
