Moroccan Actress Karima Gouit Faces New Charges in Airport Incident Case

The legal saga of the artist Karima Gouit has taken a new turn. The public prosecutor at the court of first instance in Marrakech has decided, this Thursday, to modify the indictment against the actress.
Initially prosecuted for "contempt of the judicial authority", she is now accused of "contempt of a public official".
This change follows an incident that occurred at the Marrakech-Menara airport between Karima Gouit and a security agent. The case, which was to be examined this Thursday, has been postponed to November 14th next. This decision will allow the accused, who was absent from the hearing, as well as the witnesses, to be summoned.
For the record, the artist had been released on bail (5,000 dirhams) pending her trial, the first session of which was held on May 2nd last.
Despite her legal troubles, Karima Gouit continues her career. She is currently filming for the new TV series "Ana Horra", which will be broadcast on the MBC 5 channel. She plays a maid facing many challenges, including violence against women, a subject addressed with gravity in this fiction.
