Moroccan Artist Sentenced to Prison for Insulting Airport Security Agent

Moroccan artist Karima Gouit was sentenced to two months in prison by the court of first instance in Marrakech for insulting a security agent at Marrakech-Menara airport.
This conviction follows an incident that occurred on April 18, during which the artist allegedly insulted an airport agent. Arrested by the police, she had been presented to the public prosecutor and placed on provisional release on bail of 5,000 dirhams.
The court finally decided to sentence her to a prison sentence with hard labor, accompanied by a fine of 2,000 dirhams and compensation of 5,000 dirhams to be paid to the civil party. Karima Gouit will also have to pay the legal costs.
