Moroccan Police Seize Major Drug Haul from Melilla at Nador Port

The judicial police elements of the city of Nador thwarted an attempt to traffic various types of narcotics. The operation was made possible thanks to precise information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The seized cargo, consisting of 5.570 kg of cocaine, 2 kg of heroin, 3,420 psychotropic tablets, and 400 grams of a white chemical substance, left Melilla for Morocco. The operation was carried out in the port of Beni Ansar, in Nador, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
After searches and investigations, four individuals were arrested. Searches of the suspects’ homes resulted in the seizure of 190 kg of cannabis resin, knives, three cars with false Moroccan and foreign license plates, an electronic scale, and large sums of money that could be from these illegal activities.
The accused were taken into custody for the ongoing investigation, which will identify all the people involved in this criminal network, as well as the links and ramifications of the network at the national and international levels. The DGSN stresses that samples of the seized narcotic and chemical substances have been subjected to the necessary expertise to identify their actual composition.
