Moroccan Police Seize €460,000 from Illegal Immigrant in Laâyoune

An illegal immigrant was arrested in Laâyoune with a suitcase full of foreign currency estimated at 460,000 euros.
The vigilance of the Laâyoune police elements led to the arrest of this sub-Saharan migrant, reports the daily Al Akhbar. The thorough search carried out on the spot made it possible to seize an amount of 125,000 euros in the briefcase he was carrying.
Further investigations also led to the discovery, at a close relative of the accused, of an amount of 335,000 euros, bringing the total amount to 460,000.
The defendant, already in an irregular situation in Morocco, and whose nationality is not revealed, was immediately taken into custody at the disposal of the investigation and the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
