Moroccan Police Arrest Suspect in $300,000 Online Car and Electronics Scam

A man, the subject of eleven national arrest warrants for an internet fraud case, has finally fallen into the police trap. He was arrested on Thursday by the judicial police elements of Casablanca.
According to the initial elements of the ongoing investigation, the accused, aged 45, was disseminating fraudulent publications on e-commerce websites for cars and digital equipment. His strategy allowed him to deceive Internet users who made him nearly 300 transfers to his personal account for a total cost of three million dirhams, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a press release.
After his arrest, the search operations carried out at his home resulted in the seizure of twelve postal orders, containing sums ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 dirhams. A mobile phone and 4 SIM cards were also found and deposited in the laboratory to search for elements that could support the thesis of an online scam.
The accused was placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, in order to deepen the investigation into all the fraud cases attributed to him in Casablanca, Rabat, Témara, Fez, El Jadida, Guelmim, Guercif and Sidi Kacem, and to arrest one of his accomplices who has been identified.
