Moroccan Police Seize 595 kg of Cannabis in Coastal Drug Bust

An attempt to traffic 595 kg of cannabis resin was thwarted on Sunday, October 20, 2019 by the national security services in Martil.
Informed of the transaction, the elements of the National Security of the city of Martil, in coordination with the Prefectural Service of the Judicial Police of Tetouan, conducted investigations.
This constant vigilance made it possible to confiscate this large quantity of drugs before its transfer on board a traditional fishing boat from a rocky area on the Cabo Negro beach, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The same source also reports that coordination with the services of the Royal Gendarmerie made it possible to intercept the boat used in this traffic and to arrest three suspects aged 28, 43 and 55 respectively.
Pending the elucidation of the ins and outs of this case and the arrest of any other person presumed to be involved in these criminal acts, the accused were placed in custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted by the Prefectural Service of the Judicial Police of Tetouan, under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, adds the same source.
