Moroccan Police Seize 589 kg of Cannabis in Major Drug Bust Near Agadir

The judicial police, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), proceeded, on Saturday, February 22, 2020, in the industrial district of Ait Melloul, to the arrest of a truck driver transporting 589 kg of cannabis resin. The suspect was arrested in the industrial district of Ait Melloul.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the truck driver is a 49-year-old individual with multiple criminal records. The search operations of the judicial police elements were fruitful: a quantity of 589 kg of chira was seized. The drugs were divided into 23 packages intended for international trafficking, the DGSN specifies.
Pending the determination of the national and international ramifications of this activity, as well as any accomplices in this criminal act, the accused was taken into custody.
