Massive Drug Bust: 7 Tons of Cannabis Seized at Morocco-Africa Border Crossing

A joint operation, carried out by the security services, made it possible to thwart an attempt to traffic seven tons of chira (cannabis resin) at the Guergarate border post. The operation was a success, thanks to the information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The seven tons of chira were on board an international transport truck, registered in Morocco. According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the vehicle was the subject of a thorough search using sniffer dogs, before this large quantity of chira was found, hidden in products and goods destined for export to an African country.
The truck driver was arrested and taken into custody, at the disposal of the ongoing investigation, in order to elucidate not only the ins and outs of this case, but also to identify all the accomplices and determine the ramifications of these criminal acts in Morocco and at the regional and international levels.
Morocco has been waging an all-out war against international drug and psychotropic trafficking, as well as all forms of cross-border crime for several months.
