Moroccan Police Officers Arrested for Alleged Rape of Underage Girl in Kénitra

Accused of raping a girl under the age of eighteen, two police officers working in the Mehdia security district in the province of Kénitra were arrested and then placed in pre-trial detention in the local prison.

The events took place in a premises that the two police officers were renting in the city. The victim, a girl under the age of 18, told her mother about the events. The latter filed a complaint with the King’s Attorney General at the Kénitra Court of Appeal, who ordered the opening of an investigation, reports Assabah. The teenager only discovered that her alleged rapists were police officers when they were summoned by the cell fighting violence against women. They had just completed their training course at the Royal Police Institute of Kénitra.

The two police officers completely denied the accusations. The public prosecutor’s office then ordered the investigation to be deepened. The investigators and the victim went to the premises where the sexual assault took place. A search during which they obtained irrefutable evidence. By viewing the surveillance video of a business on the alley, the investigators spotted the two officers in the company of the victim. This evidence prompted the investigating judge at the Kénitra Court of Appeal to order the two defendants to be placed in pre-trial detention, in the local prison of the city.

Pending the verdict of their trial, these two police officers have been suspended from their duties.
