Moroccan Police Officer Posthumously Promoted After Fatal Stabbing During Intervention

Deceased from a serious knife wound sustained during a security intervention, a police officer was exceptionally promoted by the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi.
The victim was posthumously promoted as a sign of consideration for the sacrifice, by giving his life to ensure the safety of citizens and the preservation of their property, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
In addition, instructions have been given to the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works to ensure that the necessary arrangements are made to allow the deceased’s parents to benefit from the necessary support in such circumstances.
To recall, the police officer was seriously injured during a security intervention on July 17 to apprehend an individual who was threatening the safety of citizens. He was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition, where he did not survive. His colleagues were forced to use their service weapon to neutralize the suspect. A judicial investigation ordered by the competent prosecutor’s office is underway.
