U.S. Intelligence Chief Meets Moroccan Security Head to Discuss Regional Threats

The Director General of National Security (DGSN), Abdellatif Hammouchi, received in audience in Rabat Avril Haines, the American National Intelligence Director.
This meeting between Avril Haines and Abdellatif Hammouchi is the second stage of a first interview the two officials had in the United States on June 13 and 14, 2022, according to a DGSN statement.
During the exchanges, Hammouchi and Haines reviewed the security situation at the regional level, especially the threats and challenges facing some countries in the world. According to the DGSN, during their meeting, the two officials also discussed the links between terrorist organizations and organized crime networks, while raising the danger that cybercrime and transnational crime represent today for the stability of the world.
The discussions also focused on the need for the two countries to develop bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan and American security and intelligence services, for the preservation of security and peace at the regional and international levels, the statement said.
Former US National Security Advisor, Avril Haines has been the Director of National Intelligence of the United States since January 21, 2021. She is the first woman to hold this position.
