CIA Director Visits Morocco to Bolster Intelligence Cooperation on Sahel Terrorism

The collaboration between Moroccan and American intelligence services is strengthening. CIA Director William Burns met Friday with DGST chief Abdellatif Hammouchi in Rabat. The two officials discussed the risks related to terrorist activity in the Sahel region and security issues in other countries in the region.
This meeting reflects the importance of the close and effective cooperation between the two countries: "This visit reflects the close and deep nature of the strategic cooperation and coordination between the intelligence services of our two countries," reads a statement released by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
This visit to Rabat follows the meeting between US domestic security officials, including William Burns, and their Moroccan counterparts during their visit to the United States last June.
