Saturday 16 December 2023, by
The working visit of French officials to Morocco presages the beginning of the warming of Franco-Moroccan relations, especially in the security sector. After his meeting with his French counterpart, Frédéric Veaux, Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), held two working sessions in Rabat with the Director General of Internal Security in France, Nicolas Lerner.
A new opportunity to mark the beginning of the warming of Franco-Moroccan relations after the tensions linked in particular to the Sahara and the visa issue. In a press release, the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) states that the meetings between Nicolas Lerner and Abdellatif Hammouchi took place on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. On this occasion, the two parties proceeded to evaluate the cooperation in the fields of intelligence and security between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic and examined the mechanisms of operational coordination in connection with the security issues of common interest.
The DGST will specify that the two Moroccan and French senior officials agreed on the importance of promoting security and intelligence cooperation and expanding the field of technical assistance and operational cooperation between the two parties, in order to guarantee the exchange of expertise and experiences, to strengthen common security and to face the threats and risks that threaten the two countries.
This meeting is part of the Kingdom of Morocco’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation in the various fields of security and intelligence, as a serious and reliable partner in maintaining security and stability at the regional and international levels.
During the meeting between Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) and his French counterpart Nicolas Lerner earlier this week, an agreement was reached in Morocco for the two countries to work closely together to ensure the security of the Olympic Games (OG) which will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris.
